Polypropylene (PP), also known as polypropene, is a thermoplastic polymer used in a wide variety of applications. It is produced via chain-growth polymerization from the monomer propylene.
Polypropylene belongs to the group of polyolefins and is partially crystalline and non-polar. Its properties are similar to polyethylene, but it is slightly harder and more heat resistant. It is a white, mechanically rugged material and has a high chemical resistance.

Polypropylene - water pipe with only material construction water supply polypropylene pipe (PP-R), has the following advantages:

(1) light weight: density of 0.89-0.91g/cm3, only one ninth of steel pipe, one tenth of red copper pipe.Due to its light weight, it can greatly reduce the transportation cost and the construction intensity of the installation.

(2) Health and non-toxic: PP-R material is completely composed of carbon and hydrogen two elements, without adding any toxic heavy metal salt stabilizer, the health performance of the material has passed the test of the national authority.

(3) good heat resistance: when the working water temperature is 70℃, it can be used for a long time, and the water temperature for short-term use reaches 95℃, and the softening temperature is 140℃.

(4) long service life: PP-R pipe in the rated service temperature and pressure, the service life of more than 50 years.

(5) good corrosion resistance: in addition to a few oxidants, can resist the erosion of a variety of chemical media, will not rust, will not corrosion, will not breed bacteria, no electrochemical corrosion.

(6) good thermal insulation performance: because the PP-R material thermal conductivity is low, the thermal conductivity of 20℃ is 0.21-0.24W/mk, than the steel pipe (43-52W/mk), red copper pipe (333W/mk) is much smaller, so the PP-R pipe thermal insulation is good.

(7) small expansion force: due to the small elastic modulus of PP-R material, the expansion force caused by temperature change is small, suitable for using the embedded wall and the floor surface layer of the direct buried application.
